About Us

The West End Corridor Regional Adult Education Consortium consists of Chaffey College and the four public K-12 adult education providers in its attendance area: Chaffey Joint Union High School, Chino Valley Unified, Fontana Unified, and Upland Unified districts. The Consortium is located at the gateway to the Inland Empire – one of the fastest growing regions in the state – and at the eastern end of the surface and air transportation corridor leading to the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. The gateway is the shipping hub of the Western United States for goods transported to and from Asia, connecting the nation’s largest and busiest ports with the markets, manufacturing, and heartland of North America through warehousing and logistics by road, rail, and air.

The Inland Empire

The Inland Empire, comprised of San Bernardino and Riverside counties, has become the fastest-growing region in Southern California, a trend that is predicted to continue in the coming years. The focus of the West End Corridor Consortium is on improving and expanding workforce preparation programs for adults that will meet the growing regional need.

Demographic data show that many individuals in the region speak English less than well, are lacking secondary education credentials, or do not possess job-specific skills that would enable them to enter a viable career pathway. Employment sectors that show indications of present and future growth in the area include logistics/warehousing, transportation, utilities, healthcare, construction trades, leisure, hospitality, manufacturing, and professional services. Following a common plan that includes careful allocation of funds, leveraging of resources, strategic collaboration, and analysis of effectiveness, the member institutions of the West End Corridor Consortium have become major providers of the education and workforce training necessary to improve the lives of individuals and strengthen communities.

In 2021, the Inland Empire is rebounding from the effects of the COVID 19 pandemic.

The following comments were published in the May 2021 newsletter of the San Bernardino County Workforce Development Board:

“San Bernardino County and the Inland Empire have reclaimed a higher percentage of jobs than Orange County, Los Angeles County, and the state as a whole. We’ve also accomplished what it took nearly half a decade to achieve, after the start of the Great Recession – a downturn that was far more challenging, not only here, but across the world.”
